Monsey – At about 2:15 Sunday morning, Chaverim of Rockland received a call about two suspicious teens walking on Suzanne Drive. A few volunteers responded to the location and started to follow them from a safe distance. A few minutes later, they witnessed the two perps break into a car in front of 198 W Maple Ave. The members requested additional members to respond, and activated the Ramapo PD.
As the Chaverim Volunteers continued to follow them, the two realized that they are being followed and began running away. The members advised Ramapo PD about the situation. As the two were running they began tossing items from their pockets including iPods, cell phones, etc.
Ramapo PD arrived on the scene, and apprehended them on Main Street and Secor Street. Their pockets were emptied out by police and additional items were discovered – including credit cards. The two were taken into custody without further incident.
More than twenty volunteers from Chaverim search route where the perps ran, to look for all items they were thrown out of their pockets.
Chaverim ask that whoever had their car broken into on Motzei Shabbos, and have items missing, they should contact Chaverim of Rockland – and it is possible that your items have been found.
MonseyScoop.com has learned that last weekend there were a number of cars broken into as well, and Ramapo Police are checking the fingerprints to see if the suspects in custody are responsible for those incidents as well.
The community would like to thank Chaverim of Rockland for their help in keeping the neighborhood safe.
