Some Rockland businesses were forced to close early today due to power problems as the shopping center they are located in on Route 59 in Spring Valley was in the dark Tuesday. Officials say the reason behind the early closings is because one of the stores in the shopping strip is going bankrupt. Shop owners say their electric was supposed to be included in the rent.
A court-appointed rent collector told News 12 Hudson Valley that not only has the shopping center been in foreclosure for two years, but the Food Mart International has just entered bankruptcy too. The rent collector says Food Mart International neglected to pay a security deposit to the utility company that is required when a company is in bankruptcy.
