At about 6:31pm, the Ramapo Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 59 in Airmont. An Infinity G35, operated by a 20 year old male from Spring Valley, New York, was traveling east on Route 59, when he entered the oncoming traffic lane striking a Lexus turning left into a restaurant parking lot. The Infinity subsequently came to rest on the front steps of the Tallman Bible Church resulting in structural damage to that building and extensive damage to the Infinity vehicle. The driver and two teenage passengers of the Infinity, and the driver of the Lexus were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for their injuries which did not appear to be life threatening.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Ramapo Police Accident Investigation Unit, and any witnesses to this accident are asked to contact that unit at 845-357-2400.
Assisting at the scene were the following agencies: Tallman Fire Department, Airmont Building and Fire Inspectors, Town of Ramapo Building Department, Ramapo Valley Ambulance and Rockland Paramedics.
